Favorite Songs of 2023

Hey everyone and welcome today we will be talking about my favorite songs of 2023. 2023 was another great year for music and honestly if you think it wasn’t then either you should start making your own music or expand your horizons because there is truly something for everyone. I tried my best to narrow it down to my favorites which was extremely difficult because there is so many I love and I love talking about the songs I love because I want everyone to love them too but I narrowed it down to a few of my favorites. So without further ado let’s get right into it.

Before we get into the juicy goodness I do want to mention some songs that were still great but I limited my self to make this video not be 10 hours long. Here are my honorable mentions: Die For You Remix by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, Never Ending Song by Conan Gray, In My Head by Mad Tsai, Eat Your Young by Hozier, Get Him Back by Olivia Rodrigo, and The Wedding Song by Renee Rapp.

Starting things off is Rush by Troye Sivan. From the lyrics of this song I gather Troye is talking about two people having intimate relations but it’s from his point of view obviously and he’s being playful and telling his partner for the night what he wants. I kinda imagine the night started at a club where they were having a blast and later led to someone’s house where his heartbeat was racing and his body was blazing but either way Troye was ready to have some fun. The title of the song kind of seems like a double entendre and refers to the exhilarating feeling as well as the poppers and if you don’t know what a popper is then I unfortunately can’t help you with that bit google can. This song is one that I feel would be fun to hear in a club and I just thought it was the perfect lead single and I immediately fell in love with it.

So I debated on adding this next song because I was like should I add an artist twice but I loved it too much to not add it so Got Me Started by Troye Sivan is the next song. From what I gathered this song is about clicking with a person and just admiring them throughout the night which eventually leads into the morning with you guys seeing the sunrise. The person Troye mentions in the song just seems like such a confident person which makes him more interesting. The song samples Shooting Stars by Bag Raiders which I thought was a great addition and made me love the song more. The title of the album something to give each other makes its way into the lyrics and its perfect for this song since it seems like the people will benefit from each other. The song is very chill and I love how the voice is sped up in the chorus but throughout the rest of the song is slow and low which feels very intimate. Also to add to my love of this song the music video was great showing off some cool dance moves.

Miley Cyrus started off the year swinging and released the masterpiece empowering anthem that is Flowers. One can assume the song is about her relationship with her ex a certain Hemsworth where she wasn’t valued and decided to leave and realized that she could treat herself better. Theres hints about it being about her ex by references the house they had that burned and even releasing it on his birthday which I love for her. You can really hear the growth in her voice and this song really suits her. It crazy to me that this was her second number one after having so many good songs through her career but I’m happy it got more recognition. While this song is about a breakup it’s very empowering seeing how it may have been negative but she comes out on top and realizes she can do stuff herself without some useless mans help.

Escapism by Raye and 070 Shake was an unexpected banger and I loved everything about it. When I listen to this song I feel like I’m listening to a friend tell a story and I’m so invested in her one night stand after some bum broke her heart. I feel like on the song Raye is describing doing anything to avoid facing the problem which is a failed relationship and instead finding a temporary escape of being with someone else during a night alf drinking and partying and not processing those feelings. The pre chorus is just so catchy like you just can’t help sing, just a heart broke bitch high heels six inch in the back of a nightclub sipping champagne. The song really builds with the instrumentals in the back and comes to a satisfying conclusion.

Sigrid has been making some great songs for a while and this year she released The Hype which added to the songs by her that I really enjoy. From the lyrics I gathered that she’s singing about always trying to please someone who has this idea of what they think she is before they got to know her or had people describe her and she’s asking did she live up to the hype but they made you feel like you didn’t but she’s also asking it sarcastically. This person treated her like a trophy when she did something that they thought was good but there was a lack of love and eventually she will move on and this person will regret how they treated her. i loved Sigrid’s voice on this song and the vibes of the song and blasted it whenever I could.

Last but certainly not least is a rerelease of a song that I have loved for years and now I have a new found love for which is Out Of The Woods Taylors Version by Taylor Swift. The song is her asking her lover are we good because the relationship has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. She details how this relationship fell apart and by the end of the song it seems like she has had enough. The repeating of the chorus in this song is so simple but oh so catchy and I sing it every time I hear it. This is one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs and I like its the best bridge in her discography and really does a good job of how uncertain this relationship was and while it was exhilarating it was also leaving her one the edge and never knowing what was next. It’s such a catchy song and to me a pretty close to perfect pop song.

The songs that were released in 2023 helped make the year more tolerable and made driving so much more fun. There were probably more songs I probably would’ve loved but unfortunately I’m just one person who can’t listen to every single thing so these are the ones that I enjoyed. I can’t wait to see what artist will be releasing new songs next year.
