Favorite Songs of 2022

Hey everyone and welcome. Today we will be talking about some of my favorite songs of 2022. For this list I’m keeping it limited to songs that were released this year. There were so many songs that I enjoyed and while it was hard to narrow it down I did. So without further ado let’s get right into it.

There were so many songs that came out this year and trust me i’ve listened to a lot and some I have included in my top 5 but some were great that I still wanted to Give a shout out. Here are my honorable mentions, Complete Mess by 5SOS, No One Dies from Love by Tove Lo perioddd, Head on Fire but Sigrid and Griff, Alien Superstar by Beyonce, and Golden Hour by Jvke. So now let’s get to my top 5 songs of the year in no particular order.

Midnight Rain immediately grabbed my attention because it sounded so different for anything Taylor Swift had done. I feel like on this song she’s talking about differences in a relationship and how she’s growing and not willing to give up what she wants to be in this relationship but this man is trying too hold her back because he wants a bride but she’s trying to make her own name. I liked her pitched down vocals in the background and then from the lyrics you’re trying to figure out who she is talking about and whose heart she broke.i kinda like this version of Taylor where its like yea I broke his heart and you wanna know why because I had big plans and I wasn’t going to stop what I’m doing for him, love that for her and that’s why she’s a star.

Up next is Memories by Conan Gray. This song is a ballad that slowly builds to a great conclusion. Conan is singing about a failing relationship and trying to move on and how the person he’s singing about keeps showing up in his life and he wants them to stay in his memories because its not going to work  out. I feel like Conan does a great job with these ballads about different scenarios in a relationship even though he himself has stated that its not about a particular person but if you just listen to the song you would think its real.

Coming in hot, no pun intended is This Hell by Rina Sawayama. This song has some rock vibes and she starts the song talking about her trying to be herself and people saying she’s going to hell but in the chorus she sings that its ok as long as she has this partner with her. The song is filled with pop culture references like the devil wears Prada, Shania twains Lets go girls, and even Paris Hiltons famous, that’s hot just to name a few. It’s a fun song and I think Rina is a good singer who is slowly coming up with some catchy songs.

Harry Styles had a great year and released the super catchy As it Was. From the lyrics it actually seems a bit sad, reminiscing about how things were before and how they’ll never be the same as it was which I’m sure everyone can relate to especially dealing with the pandemic but we must all push on. It’s such a catchy song and Harrys voice fits so well on the song.  This song is great and really showcases how much harry is growing as a singer as well as a songwriter.

Last but certainly not least is Vegas by the one and only Dojo Cat. This song samples the orginal version of Hound Dog with vocals from Shonka Dukureh's and was used in the Elvis film. On the lyrics Doja talks about talking to someone and just letting them know you see who they really are, a player, a hound dog. Doja is so talented as a rapper/ singer and this song further proves that she is amazing. From the time it was released i was hooked and even made me want to see the movie a little bit more to see how they incorporate it.

2022 was a great time for music and if you say otherwise you aren’t listening to enough music. There is music for everyone out there, you may just have to do some digging to find a sound that fits what you’re looking for. I would love to hear what your favorite songs of this year were down in the comments. But besides that everyone stay safe have fun and goodbye.
