Favorite Albums of 2022

Hey everyone and welcome. Today we will be talking about some of my favorite albums from this year. There were obviously a lot of albums that came out but I narrowed it down to my top 5 albums which surprisingly was harder than I thought. Im not going to put them in any particular order because I think they are all great. So without further ado let’s get right into it.

To start off let me tell you some of my honorable mentions. These are albums that I did really enjoy but I obviously can’t put everything in my top 5. The honorable mentions are Night Calls by Years and Years, Ivory by Omar Apollo, Places by Flume, No One Dies From Love by Tove Lo, and All For Nothing by Lauv. So lets get into my top 5.

Dance Fever by Florence and The Machine is their 5th album and if you were only a fan of dog days are over you have really missed out on how this band has grown and is continuously improving. This album does kind of remind me of their album Ceremonials with the witchy vibes but it also makes you want to be free and dance like no one is watching. I feel like the band has a very unique sound and always has some cool visuals attached while having these lyrics that are very introspective. I think my favorite song of this album is King.

Superache is Conan Gray’s 2nd album and this was one of albums that slowly grew on me. Conan does a lot of ballads and I feel like a lot of his songs deal with him being single, watching other peoples in their relationships, or in general just being a wee bit dramatic. I love how he tells stories in his songs and how it seems like there is so much emotion behind the good and the bad feelings. I feel like some of the things he sings about on this album are things people might actually feel like but some don’t feel like talking about publicly and keep them to themselves and then Conan is like hey I feel that way too. After seeing him in concert I think it further solidified my love for this album. I think my favorite song off this album is Memories and Family Line.

Harrys House is the third album for Harry Styles and I honestly was expecting a great album after how much I loved Fine Line. When this album came out I listened to this album a week straight and it really felt like harry was inviting us into his mind, into his house. Upon leaving one direction which I loved, harry has found a sound that works for his voice and continues to grow as an artist. From the first song I was immediately jamming and then he slows the vibes of the album to have more chill moments where you can sit down and just relax or cry, whatever floats your boat. As cliche as it is my favorite from this song is As it Was. By the way if you ever have a chance to see harry live you should take it because he comes in and performs with so much energy and vibes are immaculate.

Beyonce, the queen herself , released her 7th studio album Renaissance which all forced us to learn how to spell that word. This album pays homage to the house and dance genre of music. The album encourages the listener to be free and confident. This album will have you thinking you’re the bad bitch that you are and make you want to get up and dance. Beyonce continues to show that she is one of the best musicians ever and throughout the years proves that she can dip into any other genre and kill it. Hopefully in the near future we will get visuals since they seem to be missing. I think my favorite song from this album is Alien Superstar.

Last but certainly not least is Midnights by Taylor Swift. With her releasing re-recordings of her albums I honestly didn’t think we would be getting new music but here we are with a lovely 10th album filled with some great songs. With Taylor you always know you will get some deep lyrics which is no different on this album which lets us get a glimpse into what’s going on in her mind. This album has a lot more chill songs that you might just want to sit and soak in the sounds and lyrics and just enjoy. I think my favorite song of this album is Midnight Rain.

So many great albums came out this year and like I said these are my favorites. Im sure that you will have different albums that you enjoyed and I would love to see what yours are so make sure to put them in the comments. But besides that everyone stay safe,  have fun and let’s make this a great 2023.
