Favorite Movies of 2022

Hey everyone and welcome, today we will be talking about my favorite Movies from this year. 2022 was a great year for films and there were a lot of surprises and of course a lot of disappointments but I will focus on the positive. This list is not in a particular order because I think that all the movies on my list should be watched and then you can decide for yourself where it fits in your own ranking. But without further ado let’s get right into it.

We will start with some of my honorable mentions which are all great movies but aren’t in my top 5. Those are The Woman King, Nope, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Batman, Top Gun Maverick, and Prey. Now with that out of the way let’s get into the top 5 of the year.

When I was going through my list of movies this year there was one movie that I almost forgot about that I had to add to this list which may be a surprise and that movie is The Fallout. The Fallout deals with Vada dealing with the fallout of a school shooting by one of her classmates. We get so many movies about different traumas and this one was interesting to see it be about something that is still affecting people today but also in the film we see how everyone is handling it differently. It was interesting to see how people who weren’t at the school during the shooting didn’t know how to handle talking to the kids who were there during the shooting while the kids that were at the shooting seemed like they lost a bit of themselves from going through the tragedy. The film cast is amazing and the story will have you focused in and on the verge of tears.

The Bobs Burger Movie is the best animated movie of 2022. This movie was hilarious and managed to add more backstory to these characters and lead them on an adventure to solve a crime. I think it’s a big feat to turn a 25 minute show into a full blown movie and it actually be a great movie but they did it. Also a small thing I love is the names of some of the shops, if you watch you should pay attention to that in the background.

I love me some horror and this year really didn’t disappoint and one of those great films was the Black Phone. The film deals with Finney who has been captured by the mysterious grabber and the ghost of the grabbers victims help him escape. Its a film that will stress you out and keep you on the edge of your seat while you’re trying to figure out if Finney will be found by his sister or will he be the grabbers next victim. The movie surprisingly had some funny parts and I liked how all the dead kids gave Finney advice first to escape but then eventually on how to defeat the grabber once and for all. Also who knew Ethan Hawke could be so unsettling.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is that movie that came out of left field and stunned. The film deals with Evelyn who is tasked with saving the multiverse as we know it from a foe that’s more familiar than she may think. Michelle Yeoh, Key Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu all give some stand out performances and deserve all the praise that they can get for this movie. The Daniels created this masterpiece which deals with generational trauma and how to fix that and turn it into generational love. The movie has such complex story but at the heart of it it deals with a mother daughter relationship that caused the whole universe to become unstable. I know I wasn’t going to put this list in any order but I wholeheartedly think that this film is the best film of 2022.

Barbarian in a movie that I went in with an expectation of what was going to happen and I was so happy that I wrong. I feel like I always try and guess what is going to happen in movies and honestly the twist in this movie was not what I was expecting. This horror movie will have you stressed and shocked and you’ll be sitting there at the end of the movie like wow that is not what could’ve even imagined this movie would be about. Like I said earlier it was a great year for horror and this movie further solidifies it.

So if you noticed I didn’t say last one because there was a bonus movie that I needed to add to this list that was released internationally in 2021 but in the US in January 2022 and I wondered should I add it but I was like yes I can add it cause I made up these imaginary rules so I’m going to break them. The movie that is my mysterious 6ht movie is Belle. One of the few movies I watched twice this year, Belle deals with Suzu who is shy high schooler who becomes a globally loved singer after joining this virtual world under the disguise of Belle and goes out to find out who is the mysterious beast that is being chased by the authorities in this world. The story is one that is very emotional and deals with some heavy topics like abuse and loss of a parent. I heard a song from the movie which is how it caught my eye in the first place and I must say that the music in the film is phenomenal. I didn’t hear people talking about this movie that much this year but honestly I thinks one that everyone should be watching because it really was an amazing movie to watch.

Movies let us escape from whatever we are doing for a couple of hours and takes us on a journey. Im glad that I got to experience so many movies this year and was able to find out some new favorites and I really look forward to what is to come in the new year. I would love to know what some of your favorites were from this year down below in the comments. But besides that everyone stay safe, have fun and goodbye.
