Hey everyone and welcome, today we will be talking about the album 30 by Adele . Fun Fact, Adele names her albums off her age she was when she started writing them so there is 19, 21, 25, and now 30. This albums main theme is divorce but also explores self love and finding yourself. So without further ado lets get right into it.

This album consists 12 songs which may not seem like a lot but Adele showcase her amazing vocal range as well as a range of emotions. I would say this album is half upbeat songs and half sad songs with some jazz and soul influence.

The album starts off with Strangers by nature which is a strong start. Adele has amazing control on this song and it sounds like jazz song and reminiscent of Amy Wine house. from the lyric I gather that she is experiencing life after divorce. The end of this song has a great piano section and some fantastic ad libing.

Next up is the first single she released from this album Easy on Me. This song seems like its song to her son about why she had to divorce. I love how she is asking him to take it easy on her because she had good intentions and has to do what’s best for her well being. This song is a steady buildup and shows off her vocal powers.

The music video for this song was cool because it look like it tied into other videos from other eras. There was a houselike the one from Hello, driving in a car like chasing pavements, and signing in an empty room in a chair. Love how the video goes from black and white to color. Love all these callbacks to other eras.

Up Next comes My Little Love which if any song will make you cry it is this one. on this song we not only see Adele singing but also we hear some personal voice notes that she recorded that showed what she was dealing with.

On this song she is explains that she isn't perfect while also telling her thought process through this divorce. this song is very personal and shows she wants what's best for her son and is letting him know she’s there for him. I love the harmonizing and the instruments in background and how this song really shows a vulnerable side of Adele.

Cry your heart out comes next and immediately reminded me of the vibe from Right as Rain from 19. It seems like the lyrics are saying everyone handles things differently so go at your own pace. It tackles depressions and not feeling yourself but also that all feelings are there for a reason. Its a more upbeat song with deep lyrics.

Oh My God is one of my favorites on this Album. It has a great beat and she has amazing voice control and the background vocals are perfect. The chorus for this song caught me off guard in a good way. The song sees Adele talking about jumping into a new relationship or just having fun but also the sense of feeling guilty about wanting to have fun and live her life. I love how upbeat this song is and the lyrics and the vocals.

Can I Get It comes in like an upbeat country song that seems like more of a love song. From the lyrics I gather that she’s singing about someone helping put her life back together and finding love. I also gather she’s in love and making a promise to be with them forever but also feeling like she’s still chasing after them. There is this whistling in the song that for some reason I really liked.

I Drink Wine comes in talking about climbing out of a rut and looking back at all the lessons learned. She talks about loving yourself before even trying to love someone else, finding what she wants, and how the decision to end her marriage was tough. This song is honest with all the struggles but also some of the lessons she’s learned leading up to writing this. This song seems like either she’s telling her son or ex husband that hopefully in time they will understand that this was for the best. I love how this song dives into her mental health struggles recently while also telling us how she’s trying to be happier.

All night parking is a chill piano ballad. Reminds me of like a song by like Erykah Badu. Its a love song in which she talks about being excited with a lover. Very chill song.

Woman like me comes on and you think its going to be sad song but instead Adele sings about all the flaws of some person and how they are causing problems. She talks about how she’s moved on because it wasn’t working out and that you aren’t going to find a woman like her. I loved the lyrics on this song and how Adele is basically spilling all the tea.

If there is a song I would hope people resonate with on this album it is Hold On. This song puts her mental health struggle at the forefront and tells the listener to hold on and be patient with yourself because the pain is temporary. She talks about blaming herself and feeling like nothing is going right but to just hold on. I love how this song shows her vulnerabilities and is motivational because even with all that your dealing with the song lets you know that you are still strong. Theres a part which a cool echo which sounds like she’s singing in like a pool house.

To Be Loved is all about focusing on yourself and self reflection. Sounds like she’s talking about trying to make her marriage work and realized she was living a lie and had to do what was best for her and call it quits. I love how she talks about how she sacrificed so much because she wanted to be loved but she doesn’t regret the marriage because she sees it more as a lesson than a regret. This song had an epic ending.

The album finishes with Love is a Game and this song iterates how love is hard. I felt from the lyrics that this songs theme was growth. She struggles with grow but she knows she can love again and loves herself. I get real 60’s vibes from this song and I love the choir of sorts in this song and the raspy belt she does at the end.

Adele gives us an album with only 12 tracks but that’s all she needs to create a masterpiece. From hard hitting lyrics to great beats this album is sure to make you feel some type of emotion. If you haven’t listened to 30 what are you doing with your life? Go listen
